Just like a human has to undergo several stages during its entire lifestyle, plants also undergo several stages. If you are keen to know about the different stage of growing weed in your house, then this article is just for you. Starting from germination to the vegetation phase, the marijuana plant has to undergo several transformations. Before beginning with the entire process, first, you have to choose the right marijuana seed, as each seed is different and you should know whether your chosen seed would grow your desired marijuana or not. For example, a female plant will produce the trichome-rich cola buds that are harvested to smoke, vape, dap, and ingest but the male plant cannot produce any of them. So, choose the seed wisely. The stage of growing weed continues in the following way.
Stage 1 (Germination)
Once you have figured out which sex the seed belongs to, you can proceed with the germination process. You can either soak the seed in a cup of water or fold it in a damp paper towel. If you are using the former method then you will notice the seed floating on the top. It is normal and once the seed absorbs water it will eventually sink to the bottom of the glass. On the other hand, if you are folding it in a damp paper towel, then keep it at rest for at least 24 hours in a dark place. You can notice the sprouts coming out of the seed after some time. Don’t take the seed out until the time you notice the seed sprouts its taproot. Once the seeds have started sprouting their taproot, they enter the second stage.
Stage 2 (Seedling)
The seed is placed in a pot having good and healthy dirt, where the taproot of the seed can attach itself to the soil to absorb nutrients. Further, you will notice two embryonic leaves opening outward from the stem, this indicates further development. These leaves absorb sunlight that is required for proper growth. After few days, two new leaves having classic rounded points will grow that will make the marijuana plant stand out in the crowd. 4-8 leaves will be grown during the development stage of a seedling and the process may take anywhere between 1-3 weeks of time, depending on the soil, environment, water, sunlight, and other relevant factors.
Stage 3 (Vegetation)
It is during this stage, that the stem of the marijuana plant tends to grow thicker and taller. Several new nodes are developed which are responsible for the production of more leaves and branches. Plenty of warm water, dry air, nitrogen-rich organic nutrients, and soil will be needed during this stage, as it is during this stage that the plant will grow in appearance. If you want the marijuana plant to grow properly, then make sure that the plant is getting abundant relevant resources for growth.
Stage 4 (Pre-Flowering)
It takes around 5 months for the marijuana plant to enter the pre-flowering stage. The best part about this stage is, you will be able to determine the sex of your plant. If you see green banana-like sac structures on the nodes, then it is a male marijuana plant. Once you find, the light duration of the plant begins to decrease the plant moves ahead to enter the flowering stage. The light duration may take place either naturally or artificially.
Stage 5 (Flowering)
During this stage, the plant continues to grow in sticks and leaves but doesn’t possess any of the medicinal properties now. You need to decrease the light exposure either naturally or artificially i.e. if the plant was receiving 18 hours of fluorescent light indoor, then it should be reduced to 12 hours. Try to provide as much nutrients as you can that are rich in potassium and phosphorous. Over a span of 8-10 weeks, you may notice long white hair growing from the buds, which will be due to the result of reduced light exposure.
Stage 6 (Harvesting)
This is the last stage when you will be rewarded for your work. When you notice the pistils on the cola bud transforming from white color to reddish orange in color, then it means that the plant is ready for harvest.
Your marijuana plant is now properly grown and you can harvest and store it properly in a dry place.
